French Study Group

Cheadle Hulme U3A

French Study

We started as a conversational group, but when numbers grew we split into two, the present Conversation Group and a new French Study group.
We try to improve our members' knowledge of the French language, both written and spoken, but without any pressure. We are a relaxed, friendly group and meet in each others' houses. Numbers must therefore be restricted, but we are now full and unable to take any new members for the time being.
We start every meeting with the group making up sentences from randomly-chosen words, which can lead to some imaginative stories.
Currently, the group is translating, from spoken English, items about France and the French, which is both challenging and informative.
We usually meet on the first and third Mondays of the month, at the homes of various members, although the actual dates are subject to change.
